If your liberal and you lean that someone not on your approved list of friends wants to hold a rally, what should you do about it?
That is right, protest, their lack of tolerance and understanding of others, point out how they are bigoted and try to suppress others rights!
Dose this sound just plain silly to anyone else?
A SF Gate article covers the wonderful lesson in tolerance and diversity.
A Christian youth group wanted to meet in San Francisco and hold a fellowship rally. The point of their entire rally is simply to guide young people who are willing to listen away from the corrupting influence of popular culture.
How horrible. They actually want to counter a popular culture that glamorizes violence, drugs, disrespect and sex. Can you imagine a worse thing for our children!
So protesters representing San Francisco's left including abortion-rights advocates, anti-war activists and atheists staged a protest.
"There is a real intolerancy to homosexuality in a lot of these organizations," said Peter Cobb, an organizer with Not In Our Name.
Earlier this week, the Board of Supervisors passed a resolution condemning the "act of provocation" by what it termed an "anti-gay," "anti-choice" organization that aimed to "negatively influence the politics of America's most tolerant and progressive city."
The city actually CONDEMED a Christian Youth group for wanting kids to look to a moral vvalue system and not MTV for advice.
San Francisco Assemblyman Mark Leno actually said: “that while such fundamentalists may be small in number, they're loud, they're obnoxious, they're disgusting, and they should get out of San Francisco."
Way to be diverse and tolerant of other people there, Mark.
