Telling Headline
The Washington Post has a headline that is very interesting today.
“Iraq war foes ready for 2,000th military death”
We were expecting to read how the terrorists were planning to use this to their advantage.
The first line of the story:
“Cindy Sheehan, the military mother who made her son's death in Iraq a rallying point for the anti-war movement, plans to tie herself to the White House fence to protest the milestone of 2,000 U.S. military deaths in Iraq.”
The Iraq War foes. Would that not be the terrorists, the enemies of peace, the people cutting heads off of kidnapped civilians? No, not just those crazed radicals, the Washington Post informs us that the enemy in this war is also the loony radical left. While we doubt that was the intent, it is pretty much accurate.
Another jewel in the story is this:
""To me, every single member since Number One has been tragic and needless and unnecessary," she said. "My son was somewhere around 615, and I've been working so hard for peace since my son was killed and now almost 1,400 more soldiers have been killed since Casey died…
On the day after the 2,000th reported U.S. military death in Iraq, people will gather in communities across the U.S. to say that the countries pro-peace majority wants Congress to stop the deaths by stopping the dollars that are funding the war," a coalition of anti-war groups said online at www.afsc.org.”
In other words: Each death by the US Forces is a tragic and needles, so we will demand that the troops there receive no more money (read equipment and supplies) to fight a war, there fore driving up the number of US service members deaths. When will someone on the left think through the implications of their demands? When will they learn that substance over symbolism is they key to victory in all things? Win the war, kill the terrorists, build a democracy. That is how you can bring the troops home. Stop embolden the terrorists, quit giving them the hope that victory is within their grasps. Once you do that then the US deaths with have been for something.
