CRONKITE: KARL ROVE BEHIND BIN LADEN TAPE?

Former CBSNEWS anchorman Walter Cronkite believes Bush adviser Karl Rove is possibly behind the new Bin Laden tape.

Cronkite made the startling comments late Friday during an interview on CNN.
Somewhat smiling, Cronkite said he is "inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing."
Interviewer Larry King did not ask Cronkite to elaborate on the provocative election eve observation.

My first three thought on this were:

Someone tell him to STFO.
Alzheimer’s is sad.
What do you expect, he worked for CBS

I think that Cronkite has moved beyond respected voice of a news man and into a crotchety old man, which is fine because he is no longer the face of CBS news. That rather dubious distinction belongs to Dan Rather now. Cronkite has the right to say anything he wants, I defended that right for ten years, however, he should realize that the more he spouts of his socialist drivel the less he will be respected.

To actually suggest that bin Laden is on the payroll Karl Rove is going to far. He is implying that Al Quida is working with the Bush administration for political gain is not only preposterous it is inflammatory and designed to scare people into voting against one candidate. I wonder when we get to the point where comments like this will be considered hate speech, of wait, that is just reserved for a conservative view isn’t it?
