Vultures Row: Perception of Islam

Perception of Islam

Criticism of suicide bombers censored by global body's Islamic member states
Some people wonder why it is that American’s “profile” Arab looking men when we are in public places. Islam may be a religion that teaches peace, but what Americans see are the bombers, the images of the dead and wounded, the buildings falling, the dead kids in the pizza shops and the bloody people running in fear. Then we read stories that some of their leaders do things like this:

” Islamic United Nations representatives blocked an attempt to have the world body condemn killing in the name of religion.”

The article is from WorldNetDaily and can be found HERE.
The UN wanted to pass one of their glourious resolutions to condem anyone that decides that blowing up themselves and a bunch of unsuspecting people is a BAD, thing to be doing.
“IHEU representative David Littman tried to deliver a prepared text…but was blocked by the "heavy-handed intervention" of Islamic representatives of the panel. Littman said that after repeated interruptions, he was unable to complete his speech. The Muslims members said they saw the text as an attack on Islam.”

An attack on Islam? Are they serious? Does this mean to say that Suicide Bombing is an Islamic thing? The fact that they are defending it makes it look as if they are supporting it.
“The intent was for the U.N. Human Rights Commission "to condemn calls to kill, to terrorize or to use violence in the name of God or any religion."

Anyone. To condemn calls to kill, to terrorize or to use violence in the name of God or any religion. That sounds pretty clear to me, it is not targeting any one religion, the statement is not saying only Islamic attacks are to be condemned.
The article also states:
“A Saudi cleric, for example, issued a fatwa saying that innocent Britons were a legitimate target for terrorist action. Also, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, dean of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University, who has visited Britain, said terror attacks are permissible. Roy Brown, president of IHEU, said the censorship is "part and parcel of the refusal by the Islamic representatives at the U.N. to condemn the suicide bombers, or to accept any criticism of those who kill innocent people in the name of God."

This is the reason that so many in the west have a hard time believing that Islam is indeed peaceful. When their “leaders” are making statements like this, it is hard to see the millions of Muslims that really want peace. Perception is reality. As long as they allow people like this to speak out and do nothing to protest the claims or to condemn the people making them, the west is generally going to view it as the stance of the people.

Right or wrong it is how Islam is being portrayed today.
